2005 Year End Newsletter

As 2005 is winding down and the racing season has ended at Garden State, we wish everyone Happy Holidays and a Very Happy New Year for 2006!  The club had a very successful year in 2005, averaging over 120 cars a week and a competitive points series with the following drivers winning their respective classes: Jonathan Laureigh, Jr. Honda; Derek Hopkinson, Sr. Honda; John Catania, Heavy Honda; Mike Melair, Jr. Stock, Jonathan Mandato, Sr. Stock; Kyle Reinhardt, Lt Mod; Dominic Melair, Lt B; Stephen Bucko, Heavy B; Dusty Summers, Lt A; Karl Heisler, Lt 160; Sebastian Font, Heavy 160; and, Dale Eggert, Jr. Half! Congratulations to all the drivers for a most competitive series, with excitement until the last checkered flag dropped! Everyone is looking forward to the club’s annual banquet to be held on February 4, 2006.

The season began early with the opening race on April 3rd bringing in 78 cars, to the second race of the season our annual Garden State Classic with 133 cars! And check out those new track records! Way to go competitors, that is how to turn a great lap! Of course the season would not be complete without the Trophy Cup races, which always brings out the best competition at Garden State. With the following drivers taking the trophy cups home: Jonathan Flagg, Jr. Novice; Christopher Delaney, Sr. Novice; Brendon Bock, Jr. Honda; Cody Gneiting, Sr. Honda; Jake Williams, Heavy Honda; C.J. Heinig, Jr. Stock;  Sammy LaMothe, Sr. Stock and Lt. 160; Kyle Reinhardt, Lt. Mod; Tyler DeVault, Lt. B and Heavy Mod; Sebastian Font, Heavy 160; Stephen bucko, Heavy B; Kyle Lee, Lt. A, David Latour, Heavy A; and, Jacqueline Wolfram, Jr. Half!

Winding out the season with this year’s Turkey Derby with over 280 cars competing, wow! Let’s not forget all the drivers from Garden State that competed at the 2005 Grands events, the exhilarating wins for Tyler DeVault in Heavy B at the Western Grands, Jeremy Doll in Sr Stock and Kyle Reinhardt in Lt Mod at the Eastern Grands. Garden State drivers let their presence be felt in all three of the 2005 Grands events having many drivers competing in the A Mains!

As we close the year and put everything down in the record books we look forward to an exciting 2006. This year’s theme will be “In the Spirit of Competition!” The club is anticipating all the thrills and chills a great year can offer with the 2006 Eastern Grands being hosted by Garden State Quarter Midget Club. Visit the club’s website at www.gsqmrc.com for important information, timely updates, and local attractions and hotel info and links. So, freshen up those motors, restock those trailers and get the kids out to the track for opening day tentatively scheduled for April 1 and 2 for the 2006 Garden State Classic!

In closing, we bid a fond farewell to all of the retiring drivers and wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors, and thank you for all the exciting races you gave us!
